  • I have a strange situation with glossword. It is the best component for joomla so far that can post a dictionary on the web, in my case a language dictionary containing many sources so that there are many definition for the same word. The problems I encountered and make me write this email are the following:

    1. The search queries also in the definition (not only in title as it should me normal), and I only want to query in the title since it is a dictionary site where you want to know the definition of a word, a functionality like this would be nice (search word in title or in definition if you want to know what other words contain your search in definition).

    2. The output of the search presents me with a list of items from my dictionary sorted alphabetically after the title, which makes more output and it is not cost effective with large databases and many visitors since you have to scroll and find the word you were looking for. (my glossword database has 2gb)

    3. When I finally have this "sort of useful" list of items that contain the searched word it happens more than often that because it is a public dictionary (users can add their own definition to terms) to have more version of the searched word in the list. For example I paste 2 links from the list presented after searching for word computer

    Item nr. 1 - http://192.168.111.185/termeni/i…omputer,t.items&view=default

    Item nr. 2 - http://192.168.111.185/termeni/i…omputer,t.items&view=default

The problem I see here is that although there are more distinct records in the database (word "computer" in the title) the links for details for this different items is the same, so when I click on either one the page that opens next (the one with the definition of the word) is empty. Perhaps it would be better to have the unique id of the item from database so this wouldn't happen. This problem does not appear when there is only one occurrence of the search result word in the database.

These are my problems and I come to you perhaps you have a solution to this.

I am willing to pay (Dimitry :) perhaps) because I spent so much time on this project that I only have 2 options more, pay or give up. So, if anyone with better joomla skills can fix this great component the way I want it please contact me.

    Daniel.

Perhaps it would be better to have the unique id of the item from database so this wouldn't happen.

Unique ID for term already exists. But you chose SEO-mode for link generation which is based on term text.

Duplicate entries should not present in a dictionary, but I changed "View term" page so that it shows multiple terms at a one page.
